Text to Shop Launch Campaign

Walmart hired us to help them launch their new Text to Shop app across various test regions in the US, namely those that are more remote and not within easy access to their “local” Walmart, where forgetting the milk wasn’t as simple as popping back out.

We wanted to showcase how easy it was to use, and how it would allow Walmart customers to develop a more organic approach to writing their shopping list by simply asking the app to add items as and when they remembered. We ran a bunch of tests, varying the copy, visuals and products to see which connected most - and much to our bemusement, the toilet paper blew the others out of the park.

Walmart were so happy with the results we’d achieved for them with our paid social campaigns that they tasked us with developing an email campaign to help further boost awareness for their Text to Shop app. It was a channel we didn’t really work with at Ladder Digital, but we were more than happy to lean on our collective experience to make a happy client even happier.

We expanded on the messaging we’d seen work with our social campaigns to give a more in-depth explanation as to what Text to Shop did, and why it would benefit their lives. This was actually a refreshing change of pace for us, because we were able to really get into the nitty gritty and craft some fun, relatable messaging that went on to help further boost the engagement of Walmart’s fledgling app.
